Abuela’s Kitchen works in collaboration with other artists, Land tenders, educators, service groups and non-profits to act as a movement to achieve placemaking projects to benefit communities. Together we multiply our shared abilities, share our unique skills to build capacity that one group may not have, and to be a general support system.

Collaboration for Community Benefit

Master Artist Michael Bernard Stevenson Jr. (MAMBSJ)

MAMBSJ. is Black, Italian, Queer, Non-Binary, Neurodyvergent, and practices primarily in america. Their collaborative approach results in artwork by and for the people.

Their work is concerned with matters of agency, service, ritual, relationships, love, and a gaze towards the future. These ideas, and others, manifest themselves in my work with young people, currently and formerly incarcerated individuals, food and gathering around it, and other less well canonized aspects of my practice.

Together, we have worked together on murals, training and teaching youth, hosting community events, administrating grants, and building the capacity of emerging artists.

BloomsDay Natives

BloomsDay design and install native habitat and edible ecosystem gardens ranging from community projects, residential, and commercial.

Their work goes beyond regenerative landscapes; it's about honoring the cultural significance and nuanced relationship our communities hold with kitaskînaw (our land).

Together, we have worked on landscape installs with a focus on racial justice non-profits. We grow plants together for projects and to give away at community events.
